Introduction

Installing a speed gate is much more than simply fixing cabinets to the floor. A successful installation starts with careful planning, accurate site surveys, quality manufacturing and professional commissioning. At Evolve Security Products, we work closely with approved installers, architects, contractors and security integrators to ensure every project is delivered to the highest standards.

Whether you're installing speed gates in an office reception, university, transport hub, leisure facility or government building, following the correct installation process helps maximise security, improve pedestrian flow and ensure long-term reliability.

Step 1 – Site Survey & Initial Consultation

Every project begins with a detailed site survey to understand your building, security requirements and pedestrian flow. We assess entrance dimensions, pedestrian traffic, access control, fire alarm interfaces, DDA compliance, power supplies, floor construction, cable routes and future expansion. CAD layout drawings can also be produced before manufacturing begins.

Step 2 – Choosing the Right Speed Gate

We help select the correct speed gate based on security requirements, throughput, available space, cabinet finish, glass height, tailgating protection and future scalability. Options include Standard, High Glass, DDA Wide Lanes, Glass Swing Gates, Outdoor and Airport Speed Gates.

Step 3 – Design Approval

Before manufacturing begins, customers receive layout drawings, foundation details, electrical requirements, cable entry locations and access control drawings for approval. Production only starts once everything has been signed off.

Step 4 – Manufacturing

Every Evolve Speed Gate is manufactured using precision CNC machinery, robotic welding and strict quality control. Each cabinet is inspected through fabrication, assembly, wiring, controller programming, sensor calibration and operational testing. Typical manufacturing time is approximately 35 working days.

Step 5 – Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)

Every lane is fully tested for operation, safety sensors, anti-tailgating, obstacle detection, emergency release, fire alarm integration, controller programming and overall performance before shipment. Customers may attend FAT in person or remotely.

Step 6 – Delivery

Products are securely packaged for UK and worldwide delivery by road, air or sea freight. Shipments include installation manuals, wiring diagrams, quality records, test certificates and accessories.

Step 7 – Approved Installer Training

Products are supplied through approved distributors and trained installers. Training covers installation, wiring, controller programming, safety systems, access control integration, diagnostics and maintenance.

Step 8 – Site Preparation

Installers confirm floor levels, structural fixings, power supplies, network cables, fire alarm interfaces and installation area readiness before work begins.

Step 9 – Mechanical Installation

Cabinets are positioned using approved drawings before being securely fixed, aligned and fitted with glass barriers and gate leaves.

Step 10 – Electrical Installation

Qualified electricians connect power, controllers, motors, photocells, emergency stops, fire alarms, access control devices and network communications in accordance with UK regulations.

Step 11 – Access Control Integration

Evolve Speed Gates integrate with RFID readers, facial recognition, fingerprint readers, QR readers, visitor management systems, BMS and Time & Attendance software using open protocol communications.

Step 12 – Testing & Commissioning

Each lane is commissioned by testing speeds, safety sensors, anti-tailgating, obstacle detection, emergency opening, fire alarm operation, diagnostics and access control communications.

Step 13 – Customer Training

Customers receive operational training covering daily use, emergency procedures, manual release, cleaning, troubleshooting and routine maintenance.

Step 14 – Preventative Maintenance

Routine servicing includes cleaning sensors, inspecting glass panels, checking fixings, testing safety devices, inspecting electrical connections and updating firmware where required. Six-month servicing is recommended for busy environments.
