Compact Gym Entrance Control with Evolve PG127 Speed Gate and SG100 DDA Swing Gate

Star Gym wanted to improve security and automate member access while maintaining a welcoming reception environment. The challenge was that the entrance area offered very limited space, meaning every aspect of the installation had to be carefully planned to maximise pedestrian flow without compromising accessibility or the customer experience.

Evolve Security Products designed and supplied a bespoke entrance control solution combining a PG127 Speed Gate with a 600mm passage width alongside an SG100 DDA Swing Gate with a 900mm clear opening. The installation delivers secure, reliable access while ensuring the facility remains fully accessible for wheelchair users, members with reduced mobility and larger equipment. The PG127 is available in both 600mm and 900mm passage widths, making it well suited to space-constrained installations.

The Challenge

The available reception area at Star Gym was compact, leaving very little space to install an entrance control system while maintaining a natural flow between reception and the gym floor.

The client required a solution that would:

  • Secure access for members only
  • Integrate with the existing membership management system
  • Support multiple authentication methods
  • Maintain full DDA accessibility
  • Preserve the premium appearance of the reception
  • Avoid creating bottlenecks during busy periods

Installing a conventional turnstile would have reduced valuable floor space, so a more compact solution was required.


The Solution

Following a detailed site survey, Evolve recommended a combination of:

  • PG127 Speed Gate with a 600mm passage width for everyday member access.
  • SG100 Swing Gate with a 900mm clear opening to provide DDA-compliant access for wheelchair users, pushchairs, larger equipment and emergency egress where required. The SG100 is designed to complement speed gates and can provide wider accessible passage widths.

This combination created an elegant entrance while making the most of the limited space available.

The entrance control system integrates with the access control platform supplied by Dacha UK, allowing members to gain entry using:

  • QR Code Membership Passes
  • Bluetooth Mobile Credentials
  • RFID Membership Cards

The automated system reduces reliance on reception staff while providing fast, convenient and secure access throughout the day.
